Hello, I am Steve Ravet, and I am running as the Libertarian candidate for Hays County Tax Assessor/Collector.  Although the Assessor/Collector office does not set tax rates, or appraise properties, I am still committed to being the taxpayer advocate.  I will:

• Assist Hays County property owners with high property tax appraisals in any way possible -- toll free phone assistance, 24 hour online resources, guides to effectively protesting appraisals, etc.
• Cut the budget of the Assessor/Collector office while improving services -- shorter lines and less waiting. 
• Testify for legislation that would create lasting property tax relief:
  • allow a dollar for dollar credit on the school district portion of your property tax bill for anyone who pays private school tuition, donates to a private school or private scholarship fund, or purchases educational supplies for home schooling.
  • caps on taxes and spending
  • lowering the appraisal cap
  • any other measure that would allow you to keep more of your hard earned money!
